HomeScholarships

As alumni, we realize the benefits of our experiences at Ohio State and have many fond memories of our college days. The Ohio State University Alumni Club of Los Angeles is committed to giving students from Southern California the opportunity to sing the praises of Ohio State. Our student recruitment committee visits thousands of young students each year in an effort to attract top students to Ohio State. Most importantly, OSULA awards up to $1,500 in scholarships each year and recently established a $15,000 endowed scholarship in the club’s name.

If you would like to make a tax-deductible contribution to the OSULA Scholarship Fund, please send a check (made payable to The Ohio State University) to OSU-LA, 24423 Nan Court, Diamond Bar, CA 91765

In advance, thank you for your support of the university and OSULA.

Student Recruitment

Throughout the year, OSULA represents Ohio State at several college fairs around Los Angeles. We pass out OSU literature and answer the questions of potential new Buckeyes. Fairs are generally held on weekday evenings. It's easy, OSU provides 'facts and answers sheets', and we always send you with others who have done it before. For more information or to sign up to help staff a College Fair in your area, please email Darryl Geewax at  waxie@aol.com.

2009 - 2010 Scholarship Recipients

OSULA is proud to announce the 2009 - 10 scholarship winners. Each student will receive a $1,000 towards their education at OSU. Your continued support is directly responsible for our club being able to reward these outstanding young people for their extraordinary academic and extracurricular achievements. Congratulations to Bryan, Melissa and Heather.

Melissa Barcena

My name is Melissa Barcena. I live in Simi Valley and attended Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks. At Ohio State I am an English major and plan on attending law school following this school year. I am in the Politics, Society, and Law Scholars program, Mirrors Class Honorary, ALD/PES, and The National Society of Collegiate Scholars. In addition, this past school year I was on my hall council for the BHN complex on North Campus, became a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority, and learned all about being a Buckeye in Block-O. My first year at Ohio State was a great experience and although I am enjoying my time at home, I am excited to go back to Columbus in the Fall.
